Darwin Glass formed around 816000 years ago when a meteorite struck western Tasmania, creating the Darwin Crater. The impact was powerful enough to melt the local rock and blast it into the air. As it cooled mid flight, it turned to natural glass and fell back across the landscape where it’s still found today.
