Darwin Glass formed roughly 816000 years ago when a meteorite impacted western Tasmania near Mount Darwin. The heat from the collision melted surface rock and sent it flying into the air. As it cooled mid flight, it solidified into natural glass and scattered across the surrounding landscape.
