What Are Tektites?

Tektites are a type of natural glass formed from the intense heat and pressure of a meteorite impact. When a meteorite strikes the Earth with enough force, it melts the surrounding rock. That molten material is ejected into the atmosphere, where it cools rapidly while flying through the air, solidifying into glass before falling back to Earth.

Although they are not meteorites themselves, tektites are born from the same extraordinary collision, shaped by heat, pressure and movement. Each piece is a symbol of transformation and a reminder that beauty can emerge through force and change.

Where Tektites Are Found:

Tektites are rare and only found in specific areas known as strewnfields, regions scattered with debris from ancient meteorite impacts. At Conscious Creators, we source only genuine tektites from the Australasian strewnfield and other verified impact sites.

The Tektites We Offer:

Moldavite
This vibrant green glass was formed about 15 million years ago by an impact in southern Germany, though it’s found in the Czech Republic. Known for its textured surface and rich olive to forest green hues, moldavite is cherished for its ability to spark transformation, heighten intuition, and awaken emotional awareness.

Indochinite
Sourced from Thailand, Vietnam and parts of China, indochinites are dark, aerodynamically shaped tektites formed roughly 790,000 years ago. They offer a grounding and stabilising energy, ideal for those seeking balance or support during periods of change.

Philippinite
Found predominantly in the Philippines, philippinites share a strewnfield origin with indochinites but are typically round or disk shaped. They are known for their earthy, calming presence, often used as a steadying influence in times of transition.

Rare Impact Glasses:

Alongside tektites, we also offer two exceptional natural glasses formed directly by meteorite impacts.

Libyan Desert Glass
Formed nearly 29 million years ago in the Sahara Desert, this golden yellow glass carries a bright, solar energy. Revered by ancient cultures including the Egyptians, Libyan Desert Glass is uplifting, clear and energising.

Darwin Glass
This rugged impact glass comes from Tasmania and dates back around 800,000 years. With its earthy energy and protective qualities, Darwin Glass is often chosen for grounding and deepening one’s connection to nature.

Why People Work with Tektites:

Many are drawn to tektites for their potent, transformative energy. Moldavite is especially renowned for catalysing change, revealing hidden truths and guiding intuitive growth. In contrast, indochinites and philippinites offer grounding and steady support, ideal for emotional balance and resilience.

Tektites are commonly used in meditation, energy work, or worn as jewellery to carry their influence throughout the day. They are believed to help clear old patterns, strengthen inner guidance and support clarity during personal growth.

How to Identify Genuine Tektites:

Due to their rarity, tektites especially moldavite are often imitated. Signs of authenticity include:

• Natural textures with small pits or grooves
• Tiny air bubbles or inclusions within the glass
• Light feel for their size
• Irregular, unpolished shapes

At Conscious Creators, we guarantee authenticity. Every piece is responsibly sourced from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to ethical and genuine practices.

Caring for Tektites and Impact Glass:

Although durable, tektites and impact glasses can chip if dropped on hard surfaces. Store them separately from other stones and avoid extreme temperature changes.

To cleanse or recharge your piece, try:

• Rinsing under cool water
• Placing it on the Earth overnight
• Using smoke from sage or palo santo
• A short rest in the gentle morning sunlight

Tektites and impact glasses are more than geological curiosities. They are fragments of cosmic history, frozen in time. Whether you are drawn to their energetic properties, fascinated by their origin, or simply moved by holding one in your hand, each piece tells a story of powerful transformation.
